During BlizzConline, Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft Shadowlands will receive its first major content update, dubbed Domination Chains. In the update, Shadowlands will be expanded with new regions and new raid regions will be added.

During BlizzConline, Ion Hazzikostas, Game Manager at World of Warcraft, explained the first major content update for Shadowlands, the expansion of WoW that hit the market in November 2020. Hazzikostas explains that players in Shadowlands are going to The Maw, but they never get a foothold there. Until now. That will change in the chains of dominance. The four factions that have been introduced to Shadowlands unite to confront The Jailor and his forces.

Additionally, players in Chains of Domination can move to new territories. For example, at the end of the trailer released with the announcement, the floating area Korthia can be seen, which is connected to The Maw with chains. Additionally, players in the Chains of Domination will be able to take part in new raids. The most important is the Sanctum of Domination, a raid in which players compete against ten bosses. The last of these top ten is Sylvanas Windner. In addition, there will be a new type of operation: a Mechagon dungeon, in which players will be presented with eight bosses.

In Chains of Domination, players can get loads of new and especially better gear, new essential equipment, Flying Mounts and Battle Pets. It is not known when dominance chains will be available.
