In the last quarter of 2023, Netflix added more than 13.1 million new subscribers. In total, the streaming service now has 260 million subscribers.

In total, Netflix reported sales of more than $8.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023, an increase of 12 percent compared to the same quarter in 2022. Netflix expects to generate an additional $1 billion net in the first quarter of this year.

40 percent of new subscribers chose ad opt-in if possible. This subscription model now has 23 million active users.

Since 2022, Netflix has taken measures to prevent account sharing and offers a subscription model with ads.

The streaming service also announces that the basic subscription will be canceled in some countries (including Canada and the UK) starting Q2 2024. This will be replaced by an advertising model. It is not yet known whether this model will also be introduced in the Netherlands and Belgium.

In the Netherlands, Netflix currently only offers a Basic, Standard and Premium subscription, which does not contain ads.
