The Queen wore a brooch in honor of her husband, Prince Philip, 99, who is in hospital and presented her as a wedding gift. Philip is her big love and she is so worried now because he has been in the hospital for some time with a serious infection and heart complaints. The Queen was given a so-called chrysanthemum brooch, made of rubies, diamonds and platinum, in 1947 during a honeymoon in Hampshire with her husband. We also saw her appearing with her on her wedding day 60 and 73.
Philip was first hospitalized on February 16th because he had contracted an infection. At first Buckingham Palace claimed that this would be a “precaution,” but it turned out later that the situation was more dire. He was transferred to another hospital, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, to undergo heart surgery. In the meantime, things will get a lot better for the Prince, who will turn a hundred years old in June.
It was a fierce day for the Queen, who was undoubtedly, in addition to the annual holiday speech, in her stomach with Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah, which was also broadcast that day. However, according to palace officials, her mind is elsewhere: “Her thoughts are with her husband. She is more interested in Philip than in that interview.”
The interview can be seen on Tuesday March 9th at 8:30 pm on Net5. If you can’t wait any longer, you can watch the interview on VRT on Monday evening 9.20 PM (Belgium 1). Here is a preview …
