Pierre van Hooydonk returns to Voytbal’s studio on Sunday: “An important learning moment for me” | Dutch football

Pierre van Hooydonk returned to the table at the Football Studio on Sunday evening, three weeks after he accused Ajax coach Maurice Stein of “dark dealings” during his time at NAC Breda. Van Hooydonk was subjected to a storm of criticism in the following days and did not take part in the weekly Sunday evening football program for two weeks, but has now been allowed to take a seat again by NOS.

“Pierre realized he had made a mistake and apologized for it,” says Geert Jaap Hoekmann, the new editor-in-chief of NOS Sport. “We have discussed this matter comprehensively and extensively with each other. I am confident that he will resume his professional role on Sunday.”

Van Hooydonk accused Ajax coach Maurice Stein of being involved in “suspicious deals with friendly agents” during his time as coach of NAC Breda. Steijn immediately demanded a correction through his lawyer the next day. Van Hooydonk then apologized on Wednesday and NOS Sport decided that the analyst would not join Studio Voetbal for the time being, but would return to the table on Sunday.
