Marsmann continues his career in America after his contract was abruptly terminated by the arrival of Messi

Nick Marsmann played for a long time at Inter Miami, the club where Lionel Messi is currently under contract. When Messi signed with Inter Miami it looked like his dream would come true, but nothing could be further from the truth. With Messi’s arrival, Marsmann’s contract was abruptly terminated, leaving him without a club. He has now found a new club and is a PhD student rented to San Antonio.

The reason the contract was terminated was to make more room in the salary budget. Apart from Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets also play for Inter Miami. Messi reportedly earns between 45 and 55 million euros per year.

The ambitious football club from Florida took advantage of a special clause that allows them to terminate a player’s contract in order to create space in the salary budget. Marsmann (32) played a total of two seasons at Inter Miami, which took him from Feyenoord in mid-2021. He started as a base player but lost his place in May 2022. In total he played 30 official matches for the club.

The 32-year-old former goalkeeper of FC Twente and Go Ahead Eagles has now found a new club and will now play for San Antonio. “He is a professional goalkeeper who brings experience and leadership at a high level. The addition of Nick to an already strong goalkeeping department demonstrates our ambition to be champions again,” said San Antonio coach Allen Marcina. Marsmann is on loan from Inter Miami, whose season in America ends in November. Marsman will be without a transfer on January 1.
