Dutch transgender woman Van Leuven loses in her World Matchplay debut | another sport
Noa-Lynn van Leuven was eliminated on Sunday in her first appearance at the World Matchplay Darts Championship in Blackpool. The first ever transgender woman in the PDC Television Championship lost by clear numbers to English talent Bo Graves: 4-0.
And Van Leuven was unable to surprise in the quarter-finals. The 26-year-old had to admit that in Blackpool, England, she outperformed number one Greaves, who averaged higher: 82.36 to 72.08.
From the start, Van Leuven was way behind the times. Nineteen-year-old Graves held her leg and then broke her opponent. This was also the case for the next two matches. Van Leuven has bowled 100+ four times, while Graves has bowled nine hundred or higher.
Ellen de Graaf, the other Dutch participant, also failed to advance to the semi-finals. The 33-year-old lost 4-2 to Japan’s Mikuru Suzuki, who had a higher average per three arrows: 92.16 to 84.13.
The final of the men’s world championships is scheduled for Sunday evening. England’s Nathan Aspinall faces Johnny Clayton of Wales.
