Kevin Love has been the awkward third wheel for the Cavaliers and predominantly a lightning rod for criticism when his name is brought up nationally.

This wasn’t the case tonight, however, with Love torching the Blazers from the opening whistle. He scored 34 (!) in the first quarter (!!).
Kevin Love with 34 in the first and 0 in the second. There’s no way this has happened at any level of basketball.

Big Smooth shot 11-14 from the field, including 8-10 from downtown, which shattered his career-high in the first seven minutes in the game.

Love led a charge that dispatched the Blazers 137-125, and could see this propel him to a more focused role in the offense. It’s nice to be reminded how dangerous this guy can be, and hopefully we see it more going forward.
