Gregory Wathlett continues to score. Belgian show jumper continues his winning streak in the American desert at Thermal. On Friday, Watlet raced to victory in the 1.50m International CSI3* class. Wadlet won the trial Argentina de la Machete. It was Wathlett’s third win of the week.
Along with the 11-year-old daughter of Agaju de la Marchette, Wathlett, Conor Swail and Theo 160 (Christian 25) finished second. Argentina comes from a Belgian show jumping rider’s own breeder.
“This win is very special for me because the Argentine comes from my own breeding. Her dam is strong and she has already excelled in the Belgian championship for seven-year-olds. She has everything to make a rider happy, even today,” laughs Wathlet. “I saw Conor at work, he He was very fast. I know I can pick up speed with my mare, but I can’t stop her from rushing. Otherwise I might be in trouble at Sunday’s Grand Prix. I’m not winning, but still a podium finish. In the end, her natural pace was the deciding factor.”
Step three went to Ali Ramsey and the Jongerscheid mare, Bonita vh Kaisershof Z (Busquiteau).
