“The United States looks forward to consulting with Russia,” a spokesman for the country’s National Security Council said. “During the talks, Russia can bring its concerns to the table, and we will.”
Consultation with Ukraine
The spokesman stressed that no decisions on Ukraine would be taken without consulting with the Ukrainians. “There will be issues where we can make progress and issues where we disagree. That’s how diplomacy works.”
Two more meetings are scheduled for the same week. On January 12, Russian envoys will meet with NATO members, and on January 13, consultations will take place between the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Russia.
