Greek and Stephens track in the doubles quarter-finals at Wimbledon

Tennis players Talon Grape and Bart Stephens reached the quarter-finals of the doubles at Wimbledon. The Dutch pair was too strong for Australian John Pearce and Marcelo Melo from Brazil in the eighth final: 7-5, 6-4.

In the singles of the most important grass tournament, the Greek track was knocked out already in the first round by the Hungarian Marton Vosovic.

The Greek track and Stevens were added to the doubles schedule at the last minute because Nick Kyrgios had pulled out. The two friends surprised the former by eliminating the American Rajeev Ram and the British Joe Salisbury. Ram and Salisbury have won three Grand Slam titles together. They are the former No. 1 in the world.

The Greek track and Stevens may face their compatriot David Bell and his American partner Reese Stadler in the quarterfinals. The pair will compete with Australian Matthew Ebden and Rohan Bopanna of India later on Tuesday in the eighth Final.

Dutchman Wesley Koolhoff also reached the quarter-finals. The world number 2 won with his British partner Neil Skupsky against Australians Jordan Thompson and Max Purcell: 6-3 7-6 (3). In the second long set, the first-place pair scored 6 set points.

Koolhoff has never made it past the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. He is seeking his first Grand Slam title. In 2020 and 2022 he lost the doubles final at the US Open.
