General Motors wants to supply engines to the new Formula 1 team from 2028

LAS VEGAS (ANP/RTR) – The American company General Motors wants to supply engines to the not-yet-established Andretti Cadillac Formula 1 team from 2028. The team of former American driver Michael Andretti wants to join the premier class earlier, but is still… Need approval for this. For the first few years, a different supplier will supply the engine.

General Motors wants to attack the top right away when it joins, the major automaker says in the run-up to next weekend’s Grand Prix in Las Vegas. “We will race with the best, at the highest level, with a passion that will take the sport to the next level for fans around the world.”

Formula 1 will have new engine regulations from 2026. There were six established suppliers already: Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault, Audi, Honda and Red Bull Ford. Initially, the Renault Alpine Team appeared to collaborate with the Andretti Racing Team for the first few years, but that deal fell apart.

Andretti Cadillac wants to join Formula 1 from 2025, but most current teams are not in favor of it. Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali has not yet made a decision on the arrival of the XI team.
