Elsrijk lecture MICHIEL VOS, USA Correspondent
‘Fox in the US: Living in the Heart of American Democracy’
Starts Wednesday, June 26 at 8pm (entry from 7:30pm)
Location: Huis Elsrig, Graf Aalbrechtlan 138, Amstelveen Main Hall
During the twenty years he lived in America, American reporter Michael Voss evolved from a naïve immigrant to a citizen with romantic ideas about his new country, able to hold up a mirror to his adopted homeland. As a Dutch boy from Maastricht, he said goodbye to his homeland, married into a well-known American political family and became an American. In an attempt to unravel the myths of his New World, Michael takes us back to the ‘American way of life’ – or what remains of it – and opens the doors to the American establishment; He meets presidents, pop idols, Hollywood stars and ordinary, often angry Americans. He describes 21st century America using witty and humorous anecdotes. Michael Voss (1970) is a lawyer and journalist. He holds Dutch and American citizenship. He is married to Alexandra Pelosi, daughter of Nancy Pelosi, a prominent member of the Democratic Party.
The Elsrijk lectures are organized by Stadsdorp Elsrijk and Denkersclub Elsrijk in collaboration with Boekhandel Blankevoort, which sells the book on site. Michael Voss is of course willing to sign your copy.
Tickets will not be sold for this meeting. A voluntary contribution is greatly appreciated.
