Princess Kate’s parents, 42, were seen in public for the first time since their daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Middleton’s mum and dad attended the Royal Ascot horse races on Wednesday and chatted with Prince William, 41. Kate was unable to attend due to her health.

Kate announced last April that she had cancer and is currently undergoing treatment for it. On Saturday, she was seen at the annual Trooping the Color military parade in London.

Although Kate was not there on Wednesday, her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, were present. Prince William was seen having a conversation with his in-laws.

Queen Camilla, Prince Edward, Princess Beatrice, Princess Anne and her daughter Zara Tindall also attended the event. King Charles was present on the first day of Royal Ascot, but was absent on Wednesday: he held a meeting with the President of Zambia at Buckingham Palace.

Royal Ascot lasts five days and is held at racecourses in Berkshire. The event attracts more than 250,000 visitors from all over the world.
