AZ will consolidate its strength from January 2023 with American international Djorji Mihajlovic. The 23-year-old American player comes from the Montreal Football Club, with whom he first finished the MLS season. As of the beginning of January 2023, he is eligible to play for FC Alkmaar. The international player signs six times to a contract with AZ until mid-2027.
“It feels very good to be here,” Mihajlovic said after signing his contract. “I think the football philosophy suits me well and Arizona is a club where I can develop myself as a player. I know my last move will follow later, but I’m really looking forward to playing here. I don’t think so. A problem to finish the season in Montreal, because this club has brought me so much. I would like to give something back, because we have a good chance of doing something special.”
Mihajlovic has been with the Montreal team since 2021, having previously played for the Chicago Fire. “You would prefer a player to be able to join right away,” says Max Huiberts, Director of Football at AZ. “We tried that too, but that was not mentioned in Montreal.
