Xander Schauffele won the final major of the season with the British Open. For the American, it was his second major of the year, having previously won the PGA Championship in the United States. For the first time since 1982, there was an American sweep of the four majors.

American dominance of the majors is complete. After Scheffler at the Masters, Schauffele at the PGA Championship, and DeChambeau at the US Open, Schauffele has now also won the last major.
At the British Open, he produced one of the toughest final rounds ever at Royal Troon with 6 under par.
However, it promised to be very exciting, with 9 players standing within 3 strokes of each other. South African Thriston Lawrence led by 32 strokes after nine holes. Xander Schoeffel’s deficit at that point? Two strokes.
But the Americans eventually turned things around very quickly. He made birdie on the tricky 11th hole, as well as the 13th and 14th holes.
Lawrence eventually needed a 68 in the fourth round and dropped to fourth place, but as a consolation prize he can go to the Masters for the first time next year.
Schauffele completed the task on Sunday with a 65, thus earning his second major of the year at 9-under par, and already the seventh consecutive major to go to an American.
