After a year of absence, Formula 1 has finally returned to Austin, Texas for the American Grand Prix. Friday is over, so it’s time to look forward to Saturday qualifying for the 2021 US Grand Prix. Please note: Due to time difference, eligibility is only late at night.
The qualifying round starts tomorrow as the time in Texas is 7 hours less than the time in the Netherlands 23:00 ‘In the evening. Since there have only been races in Europe and the Middle East since 2020, you will almost certainly forget that there are time zones. The qualifying round starts much later than Sunday’s race, which ‘already’ starts at 21:00.
Can Verstappen score a goal in qualifying for the Grand Prix USA 2021?
It’s hard to say how many chances Verstop will have on the pole tomorrow. In the first free practice, Mercedes was almost a second ahead of the Dutchman. However, in the second procedure Hamilton and Potos had to settle for P3 and P4. However, Potas will not start from the pole: he will have to take a five-point penalty due to an engine change.
In VT2, the Red Bull driver pulled the longest straw, but you would not expect: Sergio Perez was really fast throughout the session! Anyway, that means Red Bull is not tired yet. Verstappen finished eighth in VT2, but the Dutch could not go well with traffic. He has not yet been able to express the qualifying pace.
Perez’s stunt?
Both Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris showed good speed throughout Friday, but Saturday’s stunt could really only come from one: Sergio Perez. He was the fastest of the clusters in the VT2, and in the VT1 he was able to keep up the pace as he drove on a hard tire. Will the Mexican finally take his first pole? see you tomorrow.
When does qualifying for the 2021 US Grand Prix begin?
