The stable in question is Kemp vzw stable, committed to grazing projects in the Kempen area. It’s a big disaster for them: they have to look for a new home for their sheep.
A person who is very concerned about his fate is a musician Teijs Vannest. He lives not far from the farm. “I know many people who work there personally,” he says on Radio 2. “They link biodiversity enrichment with social employment. That’s all I find very valuable.”
“Now they’ve had that tragedy and they’re facing a real problem there,” he knows. He added: “Financial resources are needed, because everything has been destroyed. From batteries to wires… everything that was stored there has disappeared.”
Much will likely be reimbursed through insurance, but to fill this initial period, crowdfunding has begun. Tijs supports this too.
In the VRT 1 program “Through the Trees” he made a painting which subsequently received many interested reactions. He decided to auction it off. “And then Kemp vzw will of course get the full amount,” it seems. Anyone who wants to make a bid can go to www.steunkempvzw.be.
