Sun Grow Horticulture acquires Pelemix US business operations
Sun Grow Horticulture buys Pelemix Mexico and Pelemix USA. Kirk Johansen, Sungrove’s vice president of export sales, will lead Pelemix Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Mexican operations, including distribution facilities, will continue to be managed from an existing office in Guadalajara, Mexico. Pelemix’s operations in the US and Canada will be integrated into Sungro’s existing corporate structure in both countries.
Sun Grow will continue to work with Pelemix on its global operations and will source high-quality coir and finished products from Pelemix facilities in Sri Lanka, India and Thailand.
Sungrove director Bill Jones explains. “Through this acquisition, Sungro will be able to expand its growing media portfolio with the cocoa substrate and further expand geographically in Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean to meet the growing needs of our customers.”
Biomix coconut is used as a growing medium in many crops worldwide. The merger of Pelemix USA and Mexican business with Sun Grow strengthens the product range of both companies and provides customers with a one-stop shop for all their coir and coir needs. “U.S. customers can do business with one company from start to finish for all their cocoa bean and professional peat-based growing media needs. Our cultivation specialists can provide farmers with the technical expertise to support the production of peat and coir composite crops,” said Bruce Adams, Sun Grow’s director of marketing.
