Shanice van de Santon after leaving Liverpool…

Shanice Van de Sanden continues her career in Mexico. The 31-year-old attacker, who left Liverpool, signed a contract with Club de Futbol Pachuca.

Van de Santon follows Merel van Dongen, who has been active for several months in Mexican Monterrey. The Utrecht native has played for Liverpool in the last two seasons. She made a total of ten appearances in the Barclays Women’s Super League last year, scoring once. Van de Santon struggled with injuries. An ankle injury ended his season early.

For a long time it was quiet about Van de Santen’s future, but he was offered by Pachuca on the night of Thursday to Friday (Dutch time). Having previously played for Olympique Lyonnais and VFL Wolfsburg, he joins a Mexican club that includes Andrea Pereira (ex-FC Barcelona), Kenty Robles (ex-Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid) and Charlene Corral (ex-Atletico Madrid). Van de Santon signed for two years.

Pachuca leads the Mexican competition Liga MX Apertura after two games. On goal difference, they are ahead of Van Dongen’s Monterrey. The Mexican League is currently suspended. Pachuca is active in the NWSL x Liga MX Summer Cup, where it still plays against the Kansas City Current and Houston Dash.
