Mark Gillies fighting for his life in intensive care: ‘He is being put in an induced coma’

Mark Gillies is in a critical condition in intensive care. His father, SBS reality star Peter Gillies, confirmed this to ANP after reports from RTL StreetThe cause is said to be acute pneumonia.

Peter reported that Mark was admitted in a critical condition during the night of Friday 28 to Saturday 29 June. Peter says: “Under the care of doctors, several investigations were launched to find out the cause of Mark’s illness. Mark was soon transferred to intensive care, where his condition was critical.

“Sadly, his condition deteriorated further, requiring him to be placed in an induced coma and ventilated overnight from Saturday to Sunday. This gave his body the opportunity to rest and we hope he will respond quickly to the antibiotics,” said Mark’s father, the spokesman.

The cause appears to be a serious pneumonia, Mark’s father says. “It is still unknown what bacteria or virus caused his illness. The doctors and nurses in the intensive care unit are taking excellent care of him and we are still hopeful for a speedy recovery. Mark is currently still fighting for his life.”
