‘Israel-US Arms Deal Impacts Elections’
A $20 billion deal for military aid to Israel has been approved in Washington DC. The Israeli Army (IDF) will receive at least fifty F15 fighter jets for self-defense. Other weapons are also going to Israel so that country can better deter adversaries in the region. It is one of the biggest arms deals in recent times that could have an impact on the US presidential election.
The Israeli government has already submitted a request for the purchase of the weapons systems to the US government in early 2023, which it agreed to and sent to parliament this week. As for the majority in the capital, the deal is expected to be finalized within 30 days. It is a collection of approximately twenty billion dollars. In 2016, the deal was already worth $58 billion.
Harris-Country
According to experts, the arms deal could have an impact on the campaign for the US presidential election on November 5. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is taking a different, more nuanced stance against Israel than outgoing President Joe Biden. However, since he is the vice president in his government, anti-Israeli forces may use the agreement against him.
Muslims
The deal would ensure that Muslim voters in so-called swing states, relying on candidates’ attitudes toward Israel, would not vote for Harris. That could have ramifications in an important battleground state like Michigan. Suspicious Muslim voters live there and are decisive because of their numbers. Research conducted in Great Britain shows that relatively many Muslims are unwilling to vote for anti-Israel candidates and parties.
change
Israel will use F15 fighter jets in Gaza and elsewhere. Currently, these 25 existing aircraft are obsolete. 25 new ones should be brought in place of these. Above that there will be at least 25 people. The first F15s should be delivered to Israel by 2026. The arms deal is not part of the monetary support Israel receives, which was passed this spring and is tied to support for Ukraine.
