Pietro Fittipaldi Rahal Letterman will drive in IndyCar next season for Lanigan Racing. The Brazilian Haas test and reserve driver has already driven some races with Dale Coyne in 2018 and 2021, but will now take the seat full-time in his home country. It is not yet known if he will also be active for Haas next year.
He took to social media and said: “I am very proud and proud of the RLL race. Mr. Rahal, Mr. Lanigan and Mr. Thank you for your faith in me, Letterman. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey.
Fittipaldi, grandson of 1989 INDYCAR SERIES champion and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi, has been announced as the driver for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing for the new IndyCar season. The 27-year-old Brazilian-American driver has made nine IndyCar starts, completing six races with Dale Coyne Racing in 2018 and returning to the team for three oval races in 2021.
Fittipaldi has been a test and reserve driver for Haas F1 since 2019 and made his Formula 1 debut in 2020 as a replacement for the injured Romain Grosjean. He raced in the World Endurance Championship this season, where he and his Jota team-mate took LMP2 victory at the Six Hours of Monza, and won the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship with Rick Ware Racing.
