Lisbeth’s daughter says complications have set in in recent weeks. “My dad has problems with his intestines, among other things,” she explains. “He’s regularly receiving antibiotics against all kinds of infections and he’s spending a lot of time in bed. You see him slowly getting worse, but fortunately there are also days he picks up.”
Van Tor is still joking, Lisbeth says. “Despite the affliction of being ill, he has not forgotten it in recent years. But not as lively as before, because speech is also becoming increasingly difficult. My father does not have eternal life, of course, but as long as he is still in our midst we want to We’ll be there as a family.”
Brother Aad (80) – better known as Adrian’s acrobat – is also affected. “Bass can only move with his right hand, for example to use the TV remote,” he says from Spain. “Otherwise he needs help with everything. There is little hope that there will ever be an improvement.”
“It’s sad to see Bass like this,” Aad says. “His old age has imagined something else. He really doesn’t deserve it.”
