More than 24,000 agents are being mobilized in the United States along the border with Mexico due to an expected increase in migrants from the south. At midnight US time, a measure that has allowed US authorities to deport millions of migrants who have crossed the border illegally expires.
As the so-called Title 42 measure expires, more people are expected to cross the border into the United States. Earlier, US President Joe Biden said he was already taking “confusion” into account. Title 42 was introduced by then-President Donald Trump during the coronavirus pandemic. Immigrants can then be deported without ifs and buts. Nearly three million migrants have been deported because of the program. ‘It will not be easy to deport the majority soon. The Biden administration has taken several steps to make sure something happens.’
Postma says the expiration of the measure is mainly used by people smugglers. ‘Migrants are lured by people smugglers who tell very good stories that it will be easy to cross the border from now on. Hence the crowd is expected to be high.
Republicans are putting pressure on Biden
Ahead of the presidential election late next year, this spells bad news for Biden. ‘All these films are now entering living rooms and it’s being done across all channels. Border states have been suffering from this for a long time. Many big cities also have problems. Once immigrants arrive in the country and await their processing, they end up in major cities like New York and Chicago. The problem has arisen there and now’ he said.

Republicans use the problem specifically against Democrats. ‘Immigration has already been very important in the last few elections and now it will be again. Trump mentioned it again during his town hall on CNN. His message is that if he becomes president again, none of this will happen.
