King Charles has received many cards and letters since his cancer diagnosis. He said on Wednesday during a meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at Buckingham Palace that well-being wishes often brought the 75-year-old monarch to “tears.”
It was the first time the two had seen each other in person after it was announced earlier this month that Charles had been diagnosed with a form of cancer. Footage published by British media showed that the Prime Minister told the King that he appeared to be in good condition. The two had previously spoken on the phone.
The king resigned from much of his work to focus on his treatment. For example, his weekly meetings with Sunak have been canceled in recent weeks.
Wednesday was the first time the king said anything on screen since it became known that he was ill. He previously stated in a message that he benefited greatly from all the expressions of support.
