Three-year-old Nika fan Xtreme Friesian’s Wurlobic Groon (Tide 501 x Feek 396) was Champion Mare Show West. ‘The most complete mare’ according to jury members Will Thijsen and Dick Brummell. Joe and Kayla Micchielli’s mare, Kroon mare Fimke Kroon AAA (Julius 486 x Sipke 450) came in front of Maryk Yipma, who was named overall reserve champion by judges Dick Brummell and Will Thijsen, extending Fimke’s title from last year.
US Central Survey
At the mare shows — one in the West and one at Harvest — all the champions of the studies come together and form a sort of central American study. Nika, with her beautiful conformation, agile, spacious gait and plenty of poise, became provisional crown and champion at Newark in early October. The flamboyant Fimke was champion at Hanford. “She has a particularly nicely positioned long trot, a very wide active gait and a trot with a lot of flexibility,” describe the Jury twins.
