The Athletes’ Commission has attacked the International Olympic Committee for its decision not to award medals from the national figure skating competition at the Beijing Olympics. Team USA won the silver medal. The event was previously postponed due to the positive doping test of Russian figure skater Camila Valeeva, who helped Russia win the gold medal.
The IOC also decided not to award medals in the women’s individual tournament if Valeeva finished on the podium. Despite an ongoing investigation into her positive test, the 15-year-old is allowed to participate. The Court of Arbitration for Sport has granted CAS permission. Tuesday is short free.
