In the run-up to Johan Cruyff’s 75th birthday, April 25, NOS reflects the birthday of the best Dutch footballer ever on various channels. Many documentaries, excerpts, and podcasts focus on issues that are not well known to the general public.
As of Thursday, April 14, fourteen parts of Cruijff never before seen will be shared via the app and on the NOS website. For example, one clip shows a conversation with his former teammate Thomas Röngen about the time Cruyff spent in the United States.
On Saturday, April 16, a special broadcast of NOS Studio Sport will be shown in which one-of-a-kind film material will be shown, including vintage black and white photos that have been colorized specifically for the occasion. Here too, never-before-seen images pass, such as Cruyff’s meeting with the young Eric ten Hag, the current Ajax coach.
Then there’s also the podcast for Other Times Sport: De Unknown Cruijff. In this four-part series, a number of lesser known teams from Cruyff’s life and football career are highlighted. Before the four episodes, there’s also the so-called “ring zero” where presenter Tom Eggers, who has worked a lot with Cruijff for NOS, reflects on his own experiences and encounters with the former soccer player. Egbers also presents every regular episode.
