What happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object?
Danny Geale gets knocked out, that’s what happens.
The gritty Australian had never previously been KO’d in his entire professional career, but when he came up against boxing’s latest punching sensation, Gennady Golovkin, something had to give.
Before they met in New York on Sunday, the Kazakh power puncher boasted a record of 29 wins and zero losses, with an incredible 26 of those coming by knockout.
His stats have now been improved by one in each category, as Beale was unable to continue beyond the third round after taking a heavy hit to the jaw.
Geale will be back, but Golovkin, or GGG as he is known to his ever-increasing band of followers, is surely set for even bigger things.
