Willie Mason's hilarious sledge

Willie Mason received the mic’d-up treatment from Sterlo during Round 26, and the charismatic Newcastle veteran may prove to be the most entertaining subject the popular segment has witnessed.

In the preview below, Mason comes up with one of the most memorable on-field sledges of the season, declaring to the opposing St George Illawarra pack: “You need some decent front-rowers.”

“Speak to ‘Mary’ (Dragons coach Paul McGregor),” the renowned antagonist continues.

Later in the game, Mason demands to put back on the field because he is cold; the footage is sure to solidify his reputation as one of the code’s great characters.

Mason is currently searching for a club for 2015 – with the Dragons the likely favourites – as he prepares to sever ties with the Knights, while Brisbane’s salary cap constraints are likely to prevent him from following coach Wayne Bennett to the Broncos.

Tune in to Sterlo on Thursday night to catch Mason’s antics in full.

During the same match Josh Dugan and Tyrone Roberts rebelled against the “no-punch” rule and threw down; plus a big hit from Timana Tahi caused Jack De Belin to vomit.
