Tokyo 2020 | Water polo players let victory over Australia pass

The Netherlands started strong against the Australian Ladies. The Netherlands took a 3-1 lead, but lost it again before the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Holland managed to advance through many goals from different players. The eight goals before the end of the first half were scored by seven different players.

The Australian water polo team that finished third at the 2019 World Championships was able to come back strong after the break. The Dutch defense threw holes against physically strong opponents who made good use of them. The third quarter ended at 10-10. In the last quarter, the Netherlands is no longer engaged. After four quarters the score was 12-15.

On Wednesday, the Netherlands will play European champions Spain. The Netherlands group consists of five countries, four of which qualify for the quarter-finals. Holland are hoping to avoid big favorites America in that quarter-final.
