“The Star Wars Declaration Wasn’t Political”
The hype around the vaccine is all the time, but the politicians knew where they were. Mark Hamill, better known as Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, shared a 1978 poster on Twitter. “When science was not yet politics.”
Mark Hamill isn’t the only Hollywood actor joining the debate. Where the Star Wars actor blinked an eye, Arnold Schwarzenegger recently shared a serious message for people who don’t want a vaccine. “Freedom comes with responsibilities. You can’t just say ‘I have the right to do or not do x, y and z’ if you are a danger to others,” was the gist of it.

In the late 1970s, it was two icons of pop culture and science fiction who shared a message. “Earth fathers, are your children fully immunized? Be sure to contact your doctor or health department today. And may the force be with you“It was the text in the ad in question. A 1978 Star Wars ad to raise awareness of the importance of a vaccine was shared on Twitter this week by Dr. Tara C. Smith, virologist by profession. “Wait until anti-fax politicians find out how R2-D2 and C-3PO tried to encourage a vaccine in 1978.”
