Strange photos of the World Swimming Championships in Budapest. American synchronized swimmer Anita Alvarez lost consciousness after her workout and was rescued from the bottom of the pool by her coach.

Alvarez slowly sank to the bottom of the pool after her workout and coach Andrea Fuentes did not hesitate for a moment. The multiple Olympic medalist followed her student. Together with a man from the tournament organization, who also jumped into the water and the emergency medical service, Alvarez helped out on the side.

Everyone in the stands was frightened, but there was good news: Alvarez quickly regained consciousness.

In 2021, the 25-year-old Alvarez suffered the same thing during one of the Olympic qualifiers. “Anita exhausted herself during rehearsals,” her mother said at the time.
