The only remaining ET doll came out Which. t. extra terrestrial It was auctioned for $2.5 million this weekend in Hollywood. It is not known who managed to obtain the rare copy. The lot was estimated at $2 to $4 million in advance.
The doll, created by special effects designer Carlo Rambaldi, is very special because it can move almost anything with more than 85 mechanical joints: from the eyes to the neck. Even the pointed finger raised when the alien told his new friend Elliot to “call home” can move.
The piece, which would have cost $1.5 million to assemble, was described at auction as an “engineering masterpiece.” The mysterious buyer had to dig deep into his pockets: the doll was sold for $ 2.5 million.
Drew Barrymore, who also appears in the movie, recently spoke about his own ET doll. At the time, the actress thought the model was real. “I really loved him in a deep way,” she said. “I’d like to have lunch with him.”
