Princess Laurentien, 58, and her foundation for victims of the benefits case are threatening legal action if AD does not remove and correct the “baseless accusations” about Laurentien from the site.
A spokesperson for Laurentien and the foundation told ANP on Wednesday. The newspaper wrote in an article published on its website on Wednesday evening that several reports of inappropriate behavior towards the princess had reached senior officials in the finance ministry. “We attach great importance to freedom of the press,” the spokesperson for the foundation and the princess said. “But the AD cannot say something without proving or substantiating it.”
If AD does not respond to the call, the foundation and Laurentians want to take legal action against the newspaper. A spokesperson could not specify what specific steps that would take on Wednesday evening.
“We will never publish unfounded information,” said AD editor-in-chief Rene Ribma in response to the ANA. “Our journalist did a good and objective job. We look forward to the steps with confidence.”
