Gareth Bale, now that he’s hung up his football boots, will make his debut as a golfer on the PGA Tour. The former footballer for Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, among others, confirmed this via Instagram.
A few weeks ago, Bill announced it Puts a point right away behind his impressive career. The 33-year-old striker from Wales was still initially under contract with US club Los Angeles, but his contract was terminated.
Saying goodbye, Bill said he did not yet know where his future lay: “I am looking forward to the next phase of my life with great expectations. A time of change and transition, an opportunity for a new adventure.”
Between February 2 and 5, 156 professional and 156 amateur golfers will participate in the tournament in Monterey, California. Bill works as an amateur, just like actors Bill Murray and Jason Bateman. Professional golfers include US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick and top players like Jordan Spieth and Luke Donald.
Bill has been an avid golfer for many years
Bale lost his credibility in Spain in 2019 when he raised the flag with his teammates after a European Championship qualifying match With the words “Wales. Golf. Madrid. “In this order,” it stated explicitly.
The three words on the flag of Wales were a reference to a quote by Predrag Mijatović. The former Real Madrid coach said frankly what Gareth Bale’s priorities were at the time. “Wales first, then golf, then Real Madrid.”
Bill is such a big golf fan that there is nothing he likes to do in his spare time. So Wales coach Rob Page sat down with his superstar before the last World Cup. The result of that conversation was that Bell was not allowed to play golf during the World Cup. “There’s no freedom in playing golf,” Page said at the time, “we’re there to get a job done.”
