The nineteen-year-old grandson of Eurovision Song Contest winner Lenny Kohr was seriously injured in the conflict between Hamas and Israel. The teenager is fighting as a soldier in the Israeli army and was shot in the stomach. The singer will travel to him on Saturday.
Kohr’s grandson was taken to a hospital in Tel Aviv. He had surgery there.
The shooting took place in a kibbutz in the south of the country, where nineteen-year-old Oz was sent with his unit. The unit came under fire from Hamas fighters. A number of Ozz’s colleagues in the unit did not survive.
The situation with Kohr’s grandson is stable. The singer will travel to Israel on Saturday to support her two daughters and four grandchildren. “Lenny knows what the risks are, but her maternal and grandmotherly feelings are very strong,” said Rob Frank, her husband and manager.
The singer intends to stay in Israel for two weeks. Kohr has four grandchildren, Oz being the eldest. Her seventeen-year-old granddaughter will soon turn eighteen and will have to join the army.
“Kohr states emphatically on Instagram that he does not want a discussion about politics. I pray for light. The light that we all are and that light that may triumph in this darkness. No words please. Just a candle as a symbol of love, compassion and hope.”
Lenny Kuhr is known for hits like The Troubadour in Visit. She won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1969 with Spain, France and the United Kingdom.
