Fundraisers were organized for the family of the victim and the police officer who shot him. Far-right TV personality Jean Messiha set the scene for the cop. More than 72,000 people have already donated and 1.4 million euros have been raised for the agent.
Left-wing politicians have condemned the fundraiser, while the far-right is defending police unions. “The policeman is the victim of a national witch hunt,” Messiha wrote on Twitter. The agent is currently in custody, and the French public prosecutor is investigating whether he can be prosecuted for manslaughter.
A financial campaign has also been launched for the Nahil family. It has so far raised 352,000 euros.

The French president declared an emergency law to expedite the repair of the damage. The damage so far has amounted to 280 million euros.
