Charges were filed by the mayor of Albany County on behalf of the state of New York, accusing Cuomo of putting his hand inside a woman’s blouse and grabbing her left breast in December 2020. In New York, inadvertent sexual harassment of someone is punishable by up to one year in prison.

The woman was not named in the indictment, but his then co-worker Brittany Commisso I filed a lawsuit in August against Cuomo for allegedly touching her chest during a meeting at the Governor’s Residence in Albany.

Cuomo, 63, is scheduled to appear in court on November 17, 2021.

Cuomo resigned in August after Attorney General Letitia James released a report concluding that he sexually harassed 11 women, including former employees. In response to news of the indictment, James said: “The criminal charges filed today against Mr. Cuomo for unwanted sexual assault confirm the findings in our report.”

Cuomo has consistently denied these allegations and continues to claim to be the victim of political backlash.
