Danish F-16s have found a new home in South America

Denmark has found a buyer for F-16s in Argentina. Scandinavians deliver F-16 to Ukraine.

Late last month, the governments of Denmark and Argentina met in Buenos Aires Agree The signing allows for the delivery of 24 surplus Danish F-16s to the South American country. Denmark will fly a fleet of 27 ordered F-35A Lightning II fighters from 2021, phasing out the F-16s. The aircraft will replace the Argentine Air Force's aging Douglas A-4AR Skyhawks. Apart from the aircraft, Denmark will also provide spare parts and simulators to train Argentina's F-16 pilots. The United States is financing the sale of the aircraft.

Not all old Danish F-16s go to Argentina. Denmark is part of a coalition of countries providing F-16s to Ukraine, along with the Netherlands and others. Denmark and the Netherlands jointly announced the delivery of F-16s to Ukraine in August. For Denmark, this is about nineteen flights. The first Dutch fighter jets are now already in action at a training center in Romania. It is not yet known when F-16s supplied by the Netherlands and other partners will be able to be deployed. In all likelihood, it will happen this summer.
