The PTO and World Triathlon will soon announce a partnership whereby the PTO Tour will be transformed into the “Official World Long Distance Championship”. This round can be compared to the WTCS series, but for the “long distance”.

In this case, the long distance is the PTO distance, in which athletes swim 2km, cycle 80km and run 18km. In fact, the “long distance” has changed to a distance even lower than the normal middle distance.

This development is interesting anyway, because although it is still not clear how many PTO races will be part of this World Championship tour next year, it is an interesting fact that “long-distance athletes” also collect points during the competitions fixed within one year. , which leads to a ranking that in turn leads to the world champions. The competitions will spread across Europe, America, Africa, Asia and Oceania. World Triathlon takes care of the judging of the competitions, including the doping controls.

There will be a minimum of six PTO races next year, but the goal is to expand that to ten races.
