Arnold Schwarzenegger detained at Munich airport by customs | Displays

Arnold Schwarzenegger was arrested by German customs officers at Munich Airport on Wednesday for not declaring an expensive and luxury watch. A customs spokesman confirmed to the German News Agency (DPA) that the Austrian-born actor and former American politician had been stopped. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against him.

Schwarzenegger, 76, planned to leave the watch in Europe. “If the goods remain in the EU, you will have to pay taxes and import duties on them,” the spokesman explains. “This applies to everyone.”

It is not clear how long Schwarzenegger will have to wait. “It takes some time,” Customs said. The spokesman expects that the actor will be able to continue his journey soon.

according to BildWho first revealed the story, Schwarzenegger was heading to Austria to attend a charity event. He is also said to be planning to go to a skating competition in Kitzbühel.
