Siem de Jong returns to the Dutch fields. The midfielder will boost Heerenveen FC selection from the new year.
The 31-year-old Frisian de Jong serves Friday afternoon at 3 PM. He comes from FC Cincinatti, where he has been in business for less than a year. His contract with the Americans expires this month, so Heerenveen can take over it without a transfer.
De Jong previously played for Ajax in two terms. He was particularly successful there in his first spell, including two goals in the championship match against FC Twente in 2011. De Jong also played with Newcastle, Eindhoven and Sydney FC.
Coach Johnny Janssen can use De Jong very well. Any injuries, stoppages, or corona outbreaks are difficult to deal with due to the narrow selection. Heerenveen also wants to add a guard to the selection.
