Noa Kirill confirms Eurovision participation after doubts

Noa Kirel will definitely compete on behalf of Israel in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest in the UK, she announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old singer was tipped by public broadcaster Kan last month as an intended candidate, but she indicated almost immediately that she still wanted to consider her participation.

The recovery speech followed on Wednesday. “I think I said everything about my excitement, the weight on my shoulders and the pride I feel,” Kirill wrote on Instagram after the press conference. “Thank you for the tremendous support you have given me since the moment I was elected and for the honor of representing my country.”

The singer was selected as a candidate for the Eurovision Song Contest last month after an internal selection. Kirill is already a big name in her country. She has scored several No. 1 hits and won the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Israeli Female Artist four times.

Nothing is known yet about the song the singer will perform at the Eurovision Song Contest. The venue for the 67th edition of the song contest has not yet been decided. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) will probably not announce which UK city will host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest until the autumn.
