Primary school teachers have ordered the Telephone Book, the first Dutch children’s book in smartphone form, en masse for their students. The stunning book by Marjoon Hofman has now been ordered in an edition of over 50,000 copies. This was announced on Sunday by the book association CPNB and telecom company Odido, which is supporting the project.
From this school year onwards, a phone ban will be implemented in all primary schools. To draw attention to this new rule, the two parties launched the booklet in April. The story revolves around Sam who gets into trouble because of his annoying little sister. Through app conversations, we read how the problems get worse. The entire book is made up of chat messages.
Marjorie Hoffman is best known for her hit series The Rules of Floor, which has also been adapted into a TV series. Elementary school teachers can sign up as of April to order copies of the book for their students. According to the CPNB, they have done so “en masse.” The book association hopes the phone book will encourage students to read more. The CPNB says the first results are very encouraging.
