Things are slowly moving in the right direction for Mark Gillies. His family shared this in an update on his health. Mark remains in intensive care, but is off a ventilator. “Today is a day with a golden edge. A day we have been hoping for for over two weeks, but it has taken so long to arrive,” the statement said.
Mark opened his eyes and slowly started to wake up.
Mark has now been in intensive care for seventeen days with double pneumonia. The family describes the fact that he has now passed “a kind of test” to be able to breathe without a ventilator as a “miracle”. “Mark has opened his eyes and is slowly waking up.”
He has to take it “very easy” now. “We just want to move on.” But the family adds: “We have to wait and see how he is in the next few hours.”
Peter is “so proud” of Mark. “One step at a time, one step in the right direction every day.” The family concludes the letter by expressing gratitude “to all the nurses and doctors for the patience and excellent care they have given our Mark” and for all the support the family has received.
