Police in the Canadian province of Alberta are investigating a notable theft. A 3.6-metre-tall stuffed polar bear recently disappeared from a spa.
The polar bear, named Harry, had been in the corner of the second floor of Lionsheart Wholeness Center for so long that the theft of the stuffed animal was not immediately noticed.
The health center director suspects that the polar bear was stolen on January 13. At that time, security guards did not conduct their usual patrols in and around the building due to the extreme cold. “It must have been a planned act,” director Wanda Roy told a local website. St. Albert Gazette.
A lot of effort had gone into bringing Harry along. The cables holding the polar bear were cut. “The drag mark can also be seen on the railing, on the stairs and towards the front door of the property,” says Rowe. It must also have taken a lot of strength to lift Harry: the stuffed polar bear weighs around 225kg.
Police called on people in the area to search for Harry, for example on selling sites. “Such a thing stands out naturally.”
Last year, two stuffed raccoons were also taken from the health center by unknown persons. Together, the polar bear and raccoon are worth €24,530.
