British runner Mo Farah will run the London Marathon on April 23, and this will likely be her last. 2023 is expected to be his final year as a competitive runner.
I’m not going to the Olympics and I think 2023 will be my last year. “I want to try it again in London,” said the 39-year-old, a four-time Olympic winner and six-time world champion.
“I can look back on a great run. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved and I want to give myself another chance to show what I can do at the London Marathon, but I don’t have to prove anything anymore,” said Farah, who has been making waves as a track athlete. He won gold in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics. He also won three world titles in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres.
Farah had to cancel last year’s London Marathon due to a hip injury. The last time he ran a marathon in London was in 2019. Then he finished fifth. In 2018, he won the Chicago Marathon in a personal best time of 2:05:11. “Participating in the London Marathon is important to me. I would like to say goodbye to the fans. It will be an emotional event.”
