Truss does not consider leaving, but says sorry for the “mistakes”. abroad

Her position has come under increasing pressure in recent days, but British Prime Minister Liz Truss is not considering stepping down. In an interview with BBC On Monday evening, she responded to all criticism of her premiership.

Several MPs from her conservative party called for Truss to leave after she passed a controversial tax package. To all the criticism, the Prime Minister replied, “I will stay because I was chosen to perform for this country.”

Truss had hoped to stimulate the economy with the tax plans, but the package actually caused turmoil in the financial markets. So the Prime Minister partly overturned it and fired her close friend and Finance Minister Kwasi Karting. His successor, Jeremy Hunt, reversed nearly all of the tax cuts on Monday.

“I want to take responsibility and say sorry for the mistakes that were made,” Truss said. “I wanted to help people with their energy bills and address the problem of high taxes. But we went too far, too quickly.”

The British media is full of speculation about the internal struggle for power within the Conservative Party. According to the rules, Truss can only be elected prime minister by her party colleagues after a year. So some party members will now investigate whether this rule can be changed.
