Roskam and Van Komenni leave IAAF after successful years | other sports

Head coach Ad Roskam and coach Charles Van Komeny announced their departure from the Athletics Association. Both will resign after this summer of athletics, when the World Cup and European Championships are scheduled.

The 64-year-old Roskam took over as IAAF technical director at the start of 2014. Van Komenny, one year younger, was appointed in the fall of 2018.

Under the leadership of Roskam and Van Commenée, great successes have been achieved in recent years. For example, the Dutch athletics team won no fewer than eight medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year, including two golds for Sivan Hasan.

At the World Cup in Eugene (15-24 July) and the European Championships in Munich (15-21 August), Roskam and Van Komenni are still in charge. Then they think it’s time for others to take over, even though Roskam is still ending the year. The Athletics Federation will have to consider succession in the coming period.
